A curing agent, also known as a hardener, is a substance or mixture that enhances or controls the curing reaction. Resin curing is a chemical reaction such as condensation, ring closure, addition or catalysis, which causes the thermosetting resin to undergo an irreversible change process. Curing is accomplished by adding a curing (crosslinking) agent. The curing agent is an indispensable additive. Whether it is used as a binder, a coating or a castable, a curing agent is added, otherwise the epoxy resin cannot be cured. The type of curing agent has a great influence on the mechanical properties, heat resistance, water resistance and corrosion resistance of the cured product.
